Anila Sinha Foundation celebrates its 15th anniversary with the 3rd International Kathak Festival. This one of a kind event brings together Kathak legends, artists, scholars and teachers from all over the world under one roof. Participants will be immersed in the rich art form of Kathak for 3 days. It promises to be an unforgettable experience!

This 3 day event consists of morning plenary sessions, afternoon workshops and lecture demonstrations and evening performances. All the events will be held at the International House at the University of Chicago, 1414 E 59th Street, Chicago, IL 60637.
Morning Plenary sessions will provide a wealth of information about topics like the history of Kathak, the different Gharanas (styles) of Kathak, choreography in Kathak and so on. These sessions will be conducted by legendary Kathak gurus Pandit Birju Maharaj, Smt. Kumudini Lakhia and other senior Kathak artists.
The panel will also include academic scholars like Dr. Sunil Kothari, Dr. Mekhla Natwar and others. The discussions will also cover topics like the effects of modern choreography ideas and Bollywood on the art of Kathak. Current Kathak teachers will discuss teaching methods to motivate the younger generation and engage them to learn this dance form.
Kathak dancers and students will get the rare opportunity to learn from Kathak legends during the afternoon workshops.
The focus for evening performances is on "choreography". The performances will consist of choreographies by various Kathak artists and teachers and will be interspersed with solo performances.
